Scarborough Sr., died on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia. Born on May 1, 1933, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Etson and Annie McLeod Rogers. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 69 years of the home; nine children, David Scarborough (Dorothy) of Goose Creek, Ricky Scarborough (Sandie) of La Porte, Texas, Sandra Jeffcoat (Robert) of St. Stephens, James Scarborough Jr. (Julie) of Sumter, Cheryl Summers (Marty) of Pawley's Island, Paulette Smith (Mark) of Piedmont, Vickie Holland (Richard) of St. George, Kevin Scarborough (Marita) of Summerville and Mark Scarborough (Trina) of Sumter; 44 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; four brothers; and a sister, all of Sumter. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a sister and three brothers. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Lakewood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harry Scarborough, the Rev. Tim Hinson and the Rev. Sammy Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at Lakewood Baptist Church and other times at the home, 4605 Wrangler Trail, Sumter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church, 3140 Nazarene Church Road, Sumter SC 29150.
