I don’t know how to fix it. jkh Mary Epps Culley Mary Epps Culley Eastover - Mary Epps Culley, 75, wife of Ronald F. Culley, died January 6, 2018 at Lexington Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. Born in Sumter, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Carl B. Epps, Jr. and Myrtle Godley Epps. She was a native of Beaufort and leaves numerous friends and relatives there, as well as in Sumter where she lived and worked for over a decade. Mrs. Culley obtained a Registered Nursing degree from Toumey Hospital in Sumter where she initially worked, and later obtained a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She was an active nurse anesthetist for many years prior to leaving that profession to assist her husband in his business. Mrs. Culley had an active outdoors and enjoyable life, and treasured her relationships with her husband, her family, and their friends, all of whom meant everything to her. She was a dedicated owner and caregiver to a variety of animals, but particularly loved the dogs and the many horses she and her husband had the pleasure of owning. They raised and raced Racing Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds throughout the country. They took numerous horseback trips over a period of several decades, primarily in the mountains of the far west, including assisting in cattle roundups with their friends in Wyoming. She was most happy while on horseback on a long camping adventure where she could enjoy nature in its purest form and share her experiences with her husband and their other companions. She was also an avid reader and was blessed with a gifted intellect, and is never known to have lost a friendly match of trivial pursuit. She was generous to a fault, kind to all encountered, engaging, always calm when other might not be, and fun to be around, leaving her with friends far beyond her family. She was a beautiful person in all respects and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mrs. Culley is survived, in addition to her husband, by her stepchildren, Jean Plowden Hall and her husband, Mark, A.D. Plowden, Jr. and Williams Plowden. She is also survived by her brother, Carl B. Epps, III and his wife, Diana; two nephews, B. Brett Epps and his wife, Rochelle and Keith H. Epps. She is additionally survived by her mother-in-law, Alice Culley; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Price and Dargan and Ronald Gregory, Rhett and Theresa Culley, and others. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd., Columbia, S.C. on January 11, 2018. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 P.M. Services will be conducted by Pastor Charles Wilson, with Pastor Michael Morales assisting. A Reception will be held at the funeral home following the services. A private burial will take places at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any memorials be made to the Mt. Elon Baptist Church, 718 Mt. Elon Church Rd, Hopkins, S.C. 29061. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com.
