Windham, 74, husband of Betty Lou Cole Windham, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at a local nursing facility. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late James McDowell Windham and Alma Louise Troublefield Windham. Mr. Windham was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Windham was an automobile dealer and past owner of Windham Imports in Winter Haven, Fla. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed much time aboard his boat, the "Y-Knot." Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include three daughters, Cynthia W. Johnston (David) of Sumter, Lou Ann W. Dubose of Alcolu and Elizabeth W. "Bunny" Wharton (Whit) of Sumter; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Roberts of Texas, Betty LeGrand of Aiken and Leah Talton of Raleigh, N.C.; and three brothers, Paul Windham of Andalusia, Ala., Julius Windham of Winter Haven and Mack Windham of Columbia. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Windham, Albert Windham and William Windham. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sumter Cemetery with the Revs. Charles Clanton and Mike Jones officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. N., Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, or to Winyah Hospice, 2575 Lin-do Court, Suite E, Sumter, SC 29150.
