BLAIR Posted Wednesday, October 31, 2018 6:00 am MARS HILL, N.C. - Edna "Carol" Singleton Blair, of Mars Hill, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018. Carol was born on Feb. 20, 1948, in Sumter, and was a daughter of the late William J. "Bill" and Roberta "Berta" Watt Singleton, both of Sumter. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Gabriel Luke Blair. Carol graduated from Lander College with a bachelor's degree and earned a master's degree from Western Carolina University. Carol was a public school teacher in Madison and Buncombe counties, until her retirement in 2008. She taught academically gifted students in the elementary grades. Carol was very active in Woodland Hills Church and served in the choir, as a Sunday school teacher, and in numerous other positions. She will be remembered for her wonderful smile, her sweet disposition and her kindheartedness to all. She was a serious follower of Jesus Christ and lived out her Christian faith daily. She is survived by her husband, Joe S. Blair; daughter, Kerry Leigh Blair Ponder and husband, Darren J. Ponder, of Lincoln County, North Carolina; son, Todd Allen Blair and wife, Shannan Leigh Gordon Blair, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Joseph James "JJ" Ponder, Andrew Lloyd "Drew" Ponder, Solomon Grae "Grae" Ponder, Caleb Levi Blair, Abram Eli Blair, Gloria Hope Blair and Gideon Jude Blair; brothers, William J. "Billy" Singleton Jr. and wife, Gail, and Sid Singleton and wife, Gina, both of Sumter; and sister, Lucy S. Plunkett and husband, Dan, of Columbia. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Woodland Hills Church. The Rev. Bob Belford will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to City Church International, P.O. Box 141256, Dallas, TX 75214-1256, and write Croatian Evangelistic Outreach in the memo of your check.
