Reynolds CEDARTOWN, Ga. -- Virginia Mathis Reynolds, age 87, of Cedartown, formerly of Sumter, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011. She was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Marlboro County, a daughter of the late J.W. Sr. and Dessie Brown Mathis. Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Reynolds; sisters, Marie Chewing, Elisabeth Blackwood and Agnes Dunlap; and brothers, J.W. Mathis Jr., Edward Mathis, Donald Mathis and Ernest Mathis. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Patsy and Ken Wingate; daughter, Deborah Galyon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Virginia Mathis Reynolds will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Conner and the Rev. Tony Weaver officiating. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter with the Rev. Charles Owens officiating. The family of Mrs. Reynolds will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Worldview Church, 500 N. College Drive, Cedartown, GA 30125.
