SINGLETON GREELEYVILLE -- Tommy Edward Singleton, 62, husband of Deloris King Singleton, died Oct. 29, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter. Born Jan. 11, 1942, in Greeleyville, he was a son of the late Pearl Singleton and Julia Davis Singleton. In his youth, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and served on the trustee board. He graduated from high school and attended Morris College. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired mail handler for the U.S. Post Office and retired after 32 years. He was a member of Pride of Foreston Masonic Lodge No. 296, American Legion Post No. 220. Survivors besides his wife, Deloris K. Singleton of the home, include one son, Darin K. Singleton of the home; one sister, Lila Mae McCoy of Atlanta; two adopted sisters, Letha July of Jersey City, N.J., and Hattie Bell Keels of Greeleyville. Wake services with Masonic rites will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Greeleyville, with the Rev. Richard Addison, pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Emmanuel Evans presiding. Burial will be in Keels Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be U.S. Army Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Pride of Foreston Masonic Lodge No. 296 and American Legion Post No. 220. Floral bearers will be Mount Hope Chapter No. 286 Order of the Eastern Star. The family will receive friends at the residence, 124 Olympia Lane, Greeleyville. Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning is in charge of arrangements.
