| HIST | of the home Darin K. Singleton GREELEYVILLE — Darin King Singleton, 28, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, on S.C. 52 South, Greeleyville, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Feb. 8, 1984, in Manning, a son of Deloris King Singleton and the late Tommy Singleton. Darin attended the public schools of Williamsburg County and graduated with honors from C.E. Murray High School, Greeleyville, in 2002. He received his bachelor of arts degree in history and political science from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, in 2007. Darin accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Greeleyville. As an active member, he served faithfully on the trustee ministry. At the time of his death, Darin was employed by the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, as a program director for health equity and wellness. He was also employed by Williamsburg Technical College, Kingstree, as a student initiative program coordinator and tutor for several years. Darin was an excellent motivational speaker and served as guest speaker at numerous events throughout the state of South Carolina. Survivors are his mother, Deloris King Singleton; four aunts, Lila Mae McCoy, Letha July, Hattie Bell Keels and Carrie Singleton; three uncles, Franklin King, Lincoln (Ernestine) King and Willie King; two great-aunts, Julia Anchrum and Virgina Whack; four great-uncles, Richard Singleton, Louis Singleton, Edisto Singleton and George Singleton; and a special friend, Dorshay Ancrunette Brown. The celebratory services for Darin King Singleton will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at C.E. Murray High School gym, 222 C.E. Murray Blvd., Greeleyville. The Rev. Otis Williams, pastor of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate, with the Rev Alfred Darby, presiding, and the Rev. Fred Addison, the Rev. Emanuel Evans Jr. and Minister Andrea Singleton assisting. Burial will follow in Old Keels Cemetery, Greeleyville. Mr. Singleton will lie in repose one hour prior to service time. The family is receiving friends at the home of his mother, 124 Olympia Lane, Greeleyville. These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning. Posted in Obituaries on Thursday, November 15, 2012 Separate wrecks leave 2 men dead BY BRADEN BUNCH bbunch@theitem.com Two separate recent motor vehicle wrecks outside the area have claimed the lives of two tri-county residents. Early Sunday morning, a single-car wreck near Eastover claimed the life of 47-year-old Sumter resident David Weatherford. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Weatherford's 1998 Ford Contour was traveling along Willie Wilson Road in Richland County when the vehicle veered off the road into a nearby ditch and overturned. According to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones, Weatherford was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene of the wreck. Monday morning, a similar accident in Williamsburg County killed a 28-year-old Manning native. According to Highway Patrol, a 2007 Infinity driven by Darin King Singleton on SC 52 South in Greeleyville near Gamble Crossroads veered off the road about 7:15 a.m. and overturned. Singleton, the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene of the wreck. While both incidents remain under investigation, officials indicated neither victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accidents. While these fatalities would not affect totals attributed to local roads, so far this year there have been 21 vehicle-related fatalities along state roads in Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties.
