| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina CARL RICHARD TURNER Posted Wednesday, August 11, 2021 6:00 am Carl Richard Turner, 85, died on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Feb. 16, 1936, in Sellers, he was a son of the late Richard Carl Turner and Lillie Garland Summerford Turner. He was a graduate of Latta High School and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He retired from Eaton after more than 20 years of service and Exide Battery after 23 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith and was a Sir Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling, shagging and spending time cooking out with family and friends. Survivors include three children, Mark A. Turner (Tammy), Kevin Turner (Cynthia) and Lisa D. Turner (Roger); former wife, Betty S. Turner; grandchildren, Christian M. Brown (Jeremy), Michelle L. Turner, Troy A. Turner (Erin), Aylissa M. Turner, Jamie C. Croft, Bailey D. Turner (Chase) and Sabrina S. Sharpe; three great-grandchildren; stepson, Christopher Rogers; niece, Joan Turner; nephew, William Smith; great-niece, Jennifer Smith; and great-nephews, Ricky Turner, Brian Turner and Chad Smith. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and a niece, Debbie Turner Smith. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kevin and Cynthia Turner, 859 Watts Drive.
