MORROW BISHOPVILLE -- Hubert Boles Morrow, 84, widower of Isabel Copeland Morrow, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Banks Floyd Morrow and Genie Bowles Morrow. Mr. Morrow was a member of First Baptist Church in Bishopville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the European Theater and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. His family moved to Lee County in the 1930s to the Ashwood Project and he became affectionately known as the "Ashwood Project Child That Made Good." He was a member of the VFW Post 3096 and the Bishopville Fire Department for more than 50 years. He retired from Morrow Oil Co. and Service Station on North Main Street in Bishopville, which he ran for 28 years with his loving wife, Isabel. Survivors include two sons, Billy Morrow (Ann) and Mike Morrow (Judy), both of Bishopville; a daughter, Kathy Lewis (Joe) of Darlington; three grandsons, Michael Morrow (Katie), Stephen Lewis (Molly) and Christopher Lewis; four granddaughters, Merritt Morrow, Kristen Polis (Harry), Stephanie Morrow and Roslyn Morrow; a great-granddaughter, Madison Polis; a sister, Sadie Sexton of Helen Wood, Tenn.; an "honored" son, the Rev. Leonard Davis of Virginia; and his loving dog, B.B. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Bishopville with the Revs. Tom Rutan, Tommy Morrow and Leonard Davis officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at his home, 417 N. Dennis Ave., Bishopville. Memorials may be made to Carolina's Hospice, 121 E. Cedar St., Florence, SC 29501; or to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 144, Bishopville, SC 29010.
