Shirley G. Scott, of 40 Par Court, was found about 9:06 p.m. by Sumter County Emergency Medical Services and first responders floating face down in her pool, a Sumter Police Department report said. When she was pulled out, she was unresponsive. Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock said Friday the time of death was about 7 p.m. Thursday and has ruled the death accidental, citing Scott's overall health as a factor. No foul play was thought to be involved, and an autopsy will not be performed, he said. "She was a great neighbor. She was as sweet as can be," said a woman who wished to remain unidentified, noting that her late neighbor had lived next door for about a year and a half. Sumter Police Chief Patty Patterson said Scott's family had spoken with her about an hour before she was found. Contact Staff Writer Joe Perry at jperry@theitem.com or (803) 774-1272.
