| HIST | of Manning, South Carolina WILLIAM D. THIGPEN MANNING - William Darry Thigpen, 59, widower of Sondra Kaye Baxley Thigpen, formerly of New Zion, died Monday, June 7, 2010, at his residence. Born Dec. 27, 1950, in Cades, he was a son of the late John Hugh and Azalee Bennett Thigpen. He was a truck driver and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Surviving are a daughter, Tamara Bryant and husband, Craig, of New Zion; a son, William D. Thigpen Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, of Turbeville; a brother, Johnny Thigpen and his wife, Jo, of Cades; a sister, Phyllis Coward and her husband, Dale, of Scranton; and four grandchildren, William D. Thigpen III, Whitney Thigpen, Thomas Bryant and Tanner Bryant. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Christian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Nail officiating. Pallbearers will be Roy Welch, Mike Anderson, Wayne McKenzie, Doug Evans, Hal Edwards and Kyle Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence of Tamara and Craig Bryant, 10505 Salem Road, New Zion, SC 29111.
