BAKER BISHOPVILLE -- Florence Elizabeth "Lib" Salvo Baker, 93, widow of William R. Baker Sr., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at her home. Born in Charleston, she was a daughter of the late Claude H. and Marie Godfrey Salvo. Mrs. Baker attended St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Florrie S. Reynolds of Bishopville and Adelaide Whelchel of Tuscon, Ariz.; grandchildren, Angela B. Forbes (Peter) of Jacksonville, Fla., Richard Baker (Carol) of Raleigh, N.C., and Eric Baker (Mona) of Jacksonville; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Karla Baker of Simo, Germany; four sisters-in-law, Ouida Salvo of Myrtle Beach, Marie Jacobsen of Surry, Maine, Pat Maughn of Lincolnville and Eleanor DeSalme of Tallahassee, Fla.; a number of nieces of nephews; and two loving caregivers, Brenda and Danny Gillespie. She was preceded in death by her son, William R. Baker Jr.; a brother, Steven Y. Salvo; and a sister, Marie Salvo Hancock (WO). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Howell officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home, Bethune Highway. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2144 Stokes Bridge Road West, Bishopville, SC 29010 or to a charity of one's choice.
