Posted Sunday, November 19, 2017 2:00 am MANNING - James Wesley "Jimmy" Strange, Sr., 73, husband of Catherine Elizabeth Stanley "Betty" Strange, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at his home. Born June 10, 1944, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Dalcho Eugene Strange and the late Lila Mae Drose Strange. He was a US Air Force veteran and he retired from GTE/Verizon after 40 years of service. He was a member of Beauclare Chapter 20, OES and St. Peter's Lodge No. 54. He was a past district deputy grand master of the 30th district and a member of Sumter York Rite Bodies. He was a member of Manning First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of Manning; two sons, James Wesley Strange Jr. (Stephanie) of Irmo and Christopher Michael Strange (Rhiannon) of Anderson; a sister, Shirley Strange Stanley of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Ethan James Strange, Abigail Christine Crumpton and Jackson Daniel Crumpton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a brother, David Eugene Strange. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, at Manning First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds and the Rev. William L. Selman Jr. officiating. Burial with full Masonic rites will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Roberson, Dalcho Stanley, Lyn Setzer, Gary Solesbee, Dr. George Jones and Calvin Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Manning First Baptist Church, members of the P.T. Bradham Sunday school class and the Masons. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Heritage Room of Manning First Baptist Church and other times at the residence, 516 Rudy Road, Manning.
