JOE FRANCIS DEAN Jr.
Joe Francis Dean Jr., 89, husband of Mae Cummings Dean, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at a local nursing center.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Joe Francis Sr. and Margaret Dawkins Dean. Mr. Dean was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a retired certified public accountant. He was a 60-year Mason, Shriner and was also a member of the Sumter Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; a brother, Harold Dean and wife, Sadie, of Myrtle Beach; a brother-in-law, James McLane Jr. of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Stevens and Dorothy McLane.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
