  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina VIVIAN B. LACHICOTTE Vivian Burress Lachicotte, 82, widow of William "Bill" Fitch Lachicotte Jr., died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Covenant Place. Born in Wedgefield, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Clarence and Carrie Kilpatrick Burress. Mrs. Lachicotte was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, William F. "Bill" Lachicotte III of Charleston; a daughter, Lisa L. Allbritton and husband, Joe, of Sumter; four sisters, Carrie Lee Alsbrooks, Evelyn B. Carr and Isabelle Burress, all of Sumter, and Josie B. Loflin of Colonial Heights, Va.; and three grandsons, Joseph Allbritton, Josh Allbritton and William Allbritton. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin C. (Buck) Burress Jr. and Willie E. Burress; and two sisters, Betty Ethel Burress and Ruth B. Davis. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sumter Cemetery with Dr. Clay Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alice Drive Baptist Church, 1305 Loring Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29150 or to United Ministries of Sumter County, P.O. Box 1017, Sumter, SC 29151.
