ARDIS Sr. Stephan "Steve" Albert Ardis Sr., age 58, beloved husband of 35 years to Kathryn "Kathy" Bultman Ardis, died on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010. He was born and raised in Sumter, a son of Esther Waters Ardis and the late Larry LeRoy Ardis Sr. He was in the first graduating class of Wilson Hall School and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He was the General Manager of Best Lumber and Millwork and was a member of the Homebuilders Association, having worked in the construction business the majority of his life. He was a member of the Gamecock Club and a member of the Crosswell Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife and his mother are: a son, Stephan A. Ardis Jr. and his wife, Rachael, of Columbia; a daughter, Emily Ardis Stavrou and her husband, Strat, of Columbia; a brother, Larry Ardis Jr. of Sumter; mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D.G.F. Bultman; a grandson, Brison Ardis; and a granddaughter, Liza Stavrou. A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Crosswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends following the service at Crosswell Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to The Crosswell Baptist Church, 604 Mathis St., Sumter, S.C. 29150, to Wilson Hall School, 520 Wilson Hall Road, Sumter, S.C. 29150, or to a charity of one's choice.
