Holbert Sr., 63, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at his home. Born in Hendersonville, N.C., he was a son of the late William D. Holbert Sr. and the late Helen W. Holbert. Mr. Holbert served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Hillcrest Masonic Lodge No. 397, former owner of the Dolphin Car Wash, and retired as a self-employed carpenter. Survivors include a son, Richard H. Holbert Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Sumter; a daughter, Sonya D. Holbert of Irmo; two grandchildren, Cheyenne F. McDaniel and Shayne A. McJunkin, both of Sumter; three brothers, James R. Holbert of St. Matthews, Robert G. Holbert of Sumter, and Wayne N. Holbert of Donna, Texas; and his former wife, Linda A. Holbert of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a brother, William D. Holbert Jr. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his former wife, Linda Holbert. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, 2751 Bull St., Columbia, SC 29201. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of arrangements. [2] | |
