The tall tube that piped the steam from its kitchen is currently being used as a flagpole at Laurence Manning Academy, Manning, South Carolina. The Starlight Room of the restaurant was a meeting place for the Ministerial Association, Rotary Club, Jaycees, Lion’s Club, bridge clubs and other men’s and ladies’ civic organizations, and served many famous people from far and wide, since Hwy. 301 was the thoroughfare for Manning during that time. She was a former girls basketball coach at Manning High School, Manning, South Carolina, a member of the Wyboo Firemen’s Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of Santee Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU and a former children’s Sunday school teacher. at death- she had 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren [1] |
