| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina HARLEY MCSWEENEY TRIMNAL III Posted Friday, February 24, 2023 6:00 am Harley McSweeney "Sweeney" Trimnal III, 77, died on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, in Sumter. Born on May 15, 1945, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harley M. Jr. and Esther Jones Trimnal. Mr. Trimnal attended Zoar Church. He retired from Sumter Builders after 33 years of service and later worked with Thames Lawn Care. Survivors include two daughters, Tina Trimnal and Lee Hutson (Joey), both of Sumter; one son, Harley M. "Mac" Trimnal IV of Columbia; six grandchildren, Dylan Trimnal, Savion Scott, Lindsay Hutson, Tiffany Hutson, Shannon Hutson and Bubba Hutson; two sisters, Sherry Truesdale of Sumter and Mary Chambers of Williamston; two brothers, Charles Trimnal of Sumter and Jerry Trimnal of Missoula, Montana; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Allen Johnson. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Thames, Tommy Brown, Billy Brown, Wayne Brown, Simon Winburn and Chris Winburn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joey and Lee Hutson, 705 Colony Road. Memorials may be sent to Zoar Church Building Fund, 1785 Mims Road, Sumter, SC 29153. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. Sumter man, 77, dies in wreck on Brewington Road Posted Tuesday, February 21, 2023 5:59 pm BY ALAYSHA MAPLE alaysha@theitem.com The Sumter County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal wreck that occurred Tuesday afternoon. The wreck occurred at the intersection of East Brewington Road and Eastern School Road after 2 p.m. Harley Trimnal III, 77, of Kingsbury Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Coroner Robbie Baker. The cause of death is still under investigation. Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
