| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina His obituary gives his name as Ily Arant Geddings, so I changed Iley S. to Ily Arant. Ily A. Geddings Ily Arant Geddings, 73, husband of Sheila Ann McCarthy Geddings, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Regency Hospital in Florence. Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Howard Eugene and Maggie Lee McLeod Geddings. Mr. Geddings was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant. He was a past exalted ruler of Sumter Elks Lodge 855 and a member of VFW Post 3034. He was a veteran of both Korea and Vietnam. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; one son, Kevin L. Geddings of St. Augustine, Fla.; six brothers, Milton E. Geddings, Leon Geddings and Johnny H. Geddings, all of Sumter, Ned S. Geddings and wife, Betty, of Turbeville, Linwood A. Geddings of Saluda and Ricky L. Geddings and wife, Debbie, of Greenville; five sisters, Daisy L. Fricker, Ileen Mooneyhan and husband, Michael, both of West Columbia, Jean Searle of Lexington, Peggy Allbright of Greenville and Pearlene "Cookie" Skipper and husband, Wesley, of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Theresa Aubrey Geddings and Corey Matthew Geddings, both of St. Augustine. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa Ouillette Geddings; and a brother, Bobby Joe Geddings. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Bishop Ryan Howard officiating and Bishop Lath Harris assisting. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with military honors. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
