Howard Dance, 71, died Saturday, April 23, 2011. Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Bill Dance and Chessie McElveen. Survivors include his wife, Louise M. Dance of Sumter; a son, Jimmy Mooneyhan of Michigan; four step-daughters, Ann Goins and Tammy Briggs, both of Sumter, and Betty Hudson and Sue Dunlop, both of Georgia; two brothers, Larry McElveen and James McElveen, both of Sumter; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren, including three he raised, Makela A. Goins of Aiken, Tammy D. Vinson and Jessica V. Mooneyhan, both of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Bartlette; a brother, Leslie McElveen; and his stepfather, Leslie McElveen Sr. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Ashwood with the Rev.
