Born on Aug. 5, 1954, in Manning, he was a son of the late George Allen Brogdon and Ruby Doris Tobias Bochette. He was the owner and operator of J Construction, and he was a member of Jefferson Road Free Will Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of Summerton; four children, Eric Stevens (Megan) of Lexington, Ruby Edwards of Sumter, BJ Bradley of Conway and Layla Davis of Summerton; six grandchildren, Audrey Brogdon, Taylor Hicks, Joseph "JT" Brogdon, Courtney Stevens, Cory Stevens and Makala Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Davis, Shea Gunther, Kaden Moening, Kinleigh Moening and Kali Moening; a brother, George Brogdon (Charlene) of Sumter; two sisters, Brenda Spivey of Manning and Patsy Oakley of Bishopville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Justin Brogdon. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Jefferson Road Free Will Baptist Church, 999 Jefferson Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
