Born Aug. 18, 1916, in Manning, she was the daughter of the late Edward Bunyon Brown and the late Belle Holladay Brown. She was a retired head nurse for the Clarendon Memorial Hospital Operating Room, a member of Manning First Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. She is survived by her son, Tom Vassar and his wife, Margaret, of Manning; her daughter, Alice Vassar Dupont of Manning; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Manning First Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Vassar and Nick Erickson officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Mahoney, Steven Powell, Stephen Bauer, Darrell Turner, Ben Thames, Honri Jones, Tom Vose, Donald Mahoney and Joel Bauer. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 406 Major Drive, Manning. Memorials may be made to the T. Eli Vassar Masonic Scholarship Fund, St. Peter's Lodge No. 54, c/o Lloyd Roberson, 1405 Bob White Drive, Manning 29102. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N.
