Notes

After the war he and his second wife and adopted daughter moved to Georgia. After living in the south for a time Sophis’s health failed and her husband took her to Cuba hoping that she would recover, but she died there. An effort was made to bring her remains home but it became necessary to bury her at sea. John and Adrianna had no children of their own, but they adopted Laura Ellen Richardson, daughter of Joseph Johnson Richardson and his wife Caroline Stark. [3]
