THOMAS STEWART
NEW ZION -- Thomas "Ellie" Stewart, 43, husband of Patricia "Pat" Frierson Stewart, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston.
Born Jan. 14, 1966, in Manning, he was the son of Diane Price Stewart and the late Harry LeGrand Stewart Sr. He was formerly employed as a mechanic at the South Carolina Department of Transportation, a volunteer fireman and first responder for Clarendon and Williamsburg Counties, and a member of Manning First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother of Manning; his wife of New Zion; two sons, Thomas Marion Stewart and Austin Perry Stewart, both of the home; two brothers, Harry LeGrand Stewart Jr. of Manning and Ronald William Stewart (Kay) of Sardinia; a brother-in-law, Rusty Mouzon of Kingstree; a sister-in-law, Debra Spriggs of New Zion; several cousins, nieces and nephews, including special nieces and nephews, Kenneth Crooks Jr. (Lisa) of New Zion, Tessa Fortner Mims (Levi) of Olanta and Russell Mouzon Jr. of Rocky Mount, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Midway Presbyterian Church cemetery in New Zion, with the Rev. Dr. Rodney Foster and the Rev. Jerry Cottone officiating.
K. C. Crooks, Reese Welch, Russell Mouzon Jr., Levi Mims, Mike Cumbie and Mitch McElveen will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, and at other times at the home of K.C. and Lisa Crooks, 1775 Corner Road, New Zion.
