| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina FAYE PARKER TRUETT Posted Monday, February 16, 2026 2:32 pm Joan Faye Parker Truett, 73, beloved wife of Carl W. Truett, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Sept. 13, 1952, in Effingham, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George Parker Jr. and the late Wilma Lamb Parker. Faye was a faithful member of Sumter First Church of God and a woman whose life was defined by love, devotion and service to others. For Faye, caring for her family was not just something she did — it was who she was. She poured her heart into her home, lovingly nurturing her husband of 51 years, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking and baking were her love language. Whether it was a holiday feast, a favorite dessert, or a simple meal shared around the table, she expressed her love through the food she prepared and the warmth she created. She found joy in helping others and was always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a comforting dish made from scratch. Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Carl W. Truett; her two children, Terry Lee Truett (Christy) and Teresa Lynn Tolson (Robert), both of Sumter; her seven grandchildren, Nicky Singleton (Robert), Deborah Slacum (James), Eddie Truett, Jay Tolson (Haley), Courtney Tolson (Michael), Raistlin Roberts and Kaitlin Roberts; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Stamps of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent R. Parker, and her sister, Wilma Jean Parker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Bower and the Rev. Tim Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her granddaughter. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [1, 3, 5] | |
