The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy W. Holmes of Sumter, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Liston B. Holmes and Marion B. Hanna Jr., all of Sumter, and Mrs. Joyce H. Foxworth of Orangeburg. She graduated from Columbia College with a bachelor of arts degree in early childhood education. She is employed as a first-grade teacher at Dutch Fork Elementary School, Irmo. The bridegroom is the son of Cmdr. and Mrs. Steven G. Sheppard of Raleigh, N.C., and David C. Lusk of Asheville, N.C., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lusk and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carland. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of science degree in business. He is employed as a salesman with Southern Watersports, Irmo. The Revs. Jim Johnston and Ben Herlong officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Mrs. Ann Caldwell, organist; and Rebecca Lauren McLeod, vocalist. Given in marriage by her parents and presented by her father, the bride wore a white satin A-Line gown featuring a beaded embroidered metallic bodice and a cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of white calla lilies, stargazer lilies and roses. Joni Gamble Truluck served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jillian McConnell Benson, Lisa Marie Earnhardt, Margaret Montgomery Griffith, Katherine Buddin Holmes, Heather Nicole Jamison, Lindsay Erin Kenney, Rebecca Lauren McLeod, Lauren Marie Scott and Tara Parker Strickland. The bridegroom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were John Anthony Ellis, Benjamin Wayne Holmes, brother of the bride, Furney Clifton Irwin, William Thomas McNair, Klayton Kenneth Truluck, and Christopher Tilson Watts and Matthew Taylor Watts, brothers of the bridegroom. Also participating were Mrs. Heather Dailey, Christine Herlong and Ashlynn Olivia Holmes. The reception was given by the bride’s parents at Sans Souci Farm. The rehearsal party was given by the bridegroom’s parents at the Heath Pavilion, Swan Lake-Iris Gardens, Sumter. Following a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Irmo.
