| HIST | of Lake City, South Carolina News - Obituaries Monday, Apr. 06, 2009 Peggy Rhodes Rodgers LAKE CITY — Mrs. Peggy Rhodes Rodgers, 65, wife of James D. “Jimmy” Rodgers died Sunday, April 5, 2009 in a Florence hospital. Mrs. Rodgers was born in Lake City, SC, on August 1, 1943. She was a daughter of the late Rollins William Rhodes and Rebecca Hanna Rhodes of Lake City. She was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church, and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Mrs. Rodgers retired from Farmers Telephone Coop of Lake City. Also she received the Steel Magnolia Award in 2003. Mrs. Rodgers was a consultant and director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Surviving: Her husband, James D. “Jimmy” Rodgers of Lake City; one sister, Phyllis Rhodes (Bobby) Parker of Lake City; one brother, Randy E. (Sharon) Rhodes of Darlington; two grandsons, T.J. and Clay Rodgers of Florence; two sisters-in law, Libby (Sonny) McFadden of Cades, and Becky (Ronnie) Cook of Lake City. Mrs. Rodgers was predeceased by her two sons, Jim Rodgers, who died from complications of a liver transplant following complication from a kidney transplant and kidney disease, and Joey Rodgers, who was killed in the line of duty as a Florence County Deputy Sheriff on April 9, 1997. Memorials may be made to the Lake City First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 820, Lake City, SC 29560; the Joey Rodgers Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 597, Lake City, SC 29560 or the Kidney Foundation, 5300 Rivers Avenue #2, North Charleston, SC 29406. The family will have visitation Monday, April 6, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Brockington Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake City First Baptist Church. Brockington Funeral Home is in charge. | |
