• Notes

  Ike Stone, Jr. served three years in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He served in Europe, Northern Atlantic, Belgium, and other islands in the Pacific. He was in Okinawa when the atom bomb was dropped on Japan. "While we were visiting in the mid to late 20's, Raymond (Stone) and Ike were hit by a car at 5-points (in Florence, SC). Ike was not injured, but Raymond was put in McLeod's Infirmary for a few days. Raymond never completely recovered from his injuries, I don't think. He missed a year of school (First Grade). Uncle Ike had just returned from Columbus, Georgia where he achieved some success in insurance but came down with TB. They had rented a house at 5-points and they were living there when he died."
