| HIST | of Pittsboro, North Carolina 524 Woodland Drive News - Obituaries Thursday, Mar. 26, 2009 Rosanne Coggeshall HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for Rosanne Howard Coggeshall, 62, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Jeri Parris Perkins will officiate with a private burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 26, 2009, from 5-6 p.m. at the Coggeshall residence, 524 Woodland Drive. Memorials may be made to Hollins University, Box 9629, Roanoke, VA 24020-1629. Ms. Coggeshall died Monday, March 23, 2009. Born in Florence, SC, she was a daughter of the late Peter Collin and Rosanne Howard Coggeshall, Sr. She was a resident of Fearrington Village, NC, and was a member of St. Benedict’s Anglican Catholic Church in Chapel Hill, NC. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Hollins College, another master’s from John Hopkins University, and a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She taught Creative Writing and English at Hollins College, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. Several of her collections of poetry were published: “Fire on Fire,” “Hymn for Drum,” and “Traffic with Ghosts,” as well as a number of short stories. Surviving are her brother, Peter C. (Carol) Coggeshall, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; nephew, Collin D. (Melissa) Coggeshall of Hartsville, SC; grandnephews, Hayes Coggeshall and Weston Coggeshall. www.bpafuneralhome.com | |
