| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina at death- she had 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren I don’t understand why there are 2 funeral homes involved- Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home in Sumter, and Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, Manning, South Carolina- jkh Dorothy Cokerill Dorothy Marie Thames Cockerill, 80, widow of Noah Irby Cockerill Jr., died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at her home in Sumter. Born Feb. 11, 1931, in Cortland, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Frank Allison Sr. and Edna Marie Johnson Thames. She was a retired secretary with Southern Coatings and a founding member of Unity Baptist Fellowship Church. She is survived by two sons, Glenn Allison Cockerill and wife, Tanaporn "Lynn," of Sumter and Gerald Wayne Cockerill and wife, Helen, of Goldsboro, N.C.; three daughters, Patricia Diane Geddings and husband, Mikey, of Sumter, Janie Louise Pye and husband, Tommy, of Columbia and Eadie Marie McKenzie and husband, Harry, of Cades; three brothers, Frank Thames of Sumter, James "Pete" Thames of Sumter and Randy Thames of Florence; four sisters, Caroline Cody of Sumter, Betty Ann Hatchell of Mount Pleasant, Gladys Timmons of Sumter and Jennifer Kolb of Sumter; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Mixon officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1830 Twelve Bridges Road, Sumter. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Thames, Paul Cody, Ricky Kolb, Jack McCall, Dan Cockerill and Harvey McDonald. Memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Fellowship Church, 1760 Twelve Bridges Road, Sumter, SC 29150. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N.
