Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Clarence C. and Weta Cockerill Osteen. Mr. Osteen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Survivors include his wife of 57 years of Pinewood; eight children, Brenda Ann Pack (Arthur) of Manning, David Allen Osteen Sr. (Ruth Ann) of Elgin, Robert Eugene Osteen of Sumter, Cynthia Evonne "Cindy" Huff (Toby) of Edmond, Okla., Robert H. "Pistol" Osteen Jr. (Debra) of Sumter, Elvin Terry Osteen (Ruthie Jo) of Sumter, Clarence Michael Osteen of Atlanta, Ga., and Chasity Lynn Powell (Mitchell) of Pinewood; 37 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Cain and Margie Lawrence, both of Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Lath Harris officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
