Born on June 2, 1952, in Sumter, he was a son of Ann Wilkie Huggins and the late Richard Huggins. He was a retired truck driver and co-owner of Huggins Brothers Trucking. He attended Dalzell United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, Clemson Tiger fan, and NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife of 36 years; mother of Sumter; three children, Sherry Jacks (Jamie) of Sumter, Ashleigh Stark (Harry) of Blythewood and Vernon Thomas "T.J." Huggins Jr. of Irmo; six grandchildren, Chad Phillips, Matt Phillips, Michael Smith, Jada David, Hailey David and Nathan Stark; a brother, Richard Huggins Jr. (Andra); his beloved dog, Harley; and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Stephen Sanderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 3430 Tucker St., Dalzell, and also at the home of his mother, 1546 Florence Highway, Sumter. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Kittrell Center, Suite 110, Columbia, SC 29204 or to a charity of one's choice. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.  [5]
