There has to be something wrong with the Shelley-Brunson Funeral Home records.jkh Sally Medlin Posted: Tuesday, March 29, 2011 6:00 am Sally Mancil Smith Medlin, 86, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at NHC Healthcare. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Inez McCoy Mancil of Lamar. Mrs. Medlin was first married to the late Donald T. Smith and then to the late Grady F. Medlin for 40 years. She was the last of nine siblings. She was a member of Evangelical Baptist Church and was employed at Pioneer LTD and Campbell Soup Co. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. Her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were first and foremost in her life. She loved to cook and take food to her older neighbors and her family. She was always there showing her love to her family and friends. Survivors include two children, Betty Smith English (Tracy) of Wedgefield and Charles D. Smith of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Ruby Jean McLendon (Kevin) and Tracy English Jr. (Sandy), both of Sumter, Amy Smith of Myrtle Beach and Chuckie Smith of Norway; five great-grandchildren, Elaine Bowman Freed (Ron), Michael Bowman (Kathy), Rebekah McLendon, Taylor McLendon and Brittani English, all of Sumter; and two great-great-grandsons, Samuel and Cameron Bowman, both of Sumter. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ruby Jean Smith and Myrtis Helen Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Michael Bowman and the Rev. Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Billy Hudson, Tracy English Jr., Kevin McLendon, Gene Weatherly, Ron Freed and the Rev. Aaron Reed. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy English, 4853 Wedgelake Drive, Wedgefield. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of NHC Healthcare, Willene Kieth, and Wanda Gibson for their care, love and compassion, and especially to Dr. Mayes DuBose. Memorials may be made to Solaris Hospice, 246 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150 or to Alzheimer's Research, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Clemson, SC 29261.
