| HIST | HELLEN WINKLES OSTEEN Posted Friday, January 10, 2020 6:00 am Hellen Winkles Osteen, 82, widow of Roy LaVerne Osteen, died on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at NHC Healthcare. Born on Oct. 22, 1937, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Lillie Belle Peebles Winkles. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church at Oswego. Mrs. Osteen was formerly employed at Georgia-Pacific and retired from Dixie Beverage. Family members include Tony Osteen, Margaret Fletcher (Donnie), Thelma Geddings, Eleanor Boykin and Ben Osteen (Sandra). A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Tim Whited officiating. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 5575 Lodebar Road, Sumter, SC 29153 or to a charity of one's choice. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. [1] | |
