LEXINGTON — John Oliver Daniels Sr., 86, widower of Hazel Ramsdell Daniels, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Rapha Residential Care in Gaston.
Born March 7, 1923, in Alcolu, he was the son of the late William James and Janie Martin Daniels. He was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church in Sumter and was formerly employed by Burgess Brogdon Building Supply in Sumter.
Surviving are a son, John Oliver Daniels Jr. (Rose) of Richmond, Ky.; a daughter, Christine Phillips (Wayne) of Columbia; a sister, Ruth Daniels Land of Sumter; two grandsons, George Phillips and Andrew Daniels; a granddaughter, Ashley Daniels; and three great-grandchildren, Carter, Kelsey, and Allison Phillips.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in the Manning Cemetery.
The family received friends at Stephens Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
