| HIST | GAIL L. MATHIS Posted Wednesday, July 5, 2017 6:00 am MANNING - Gail Lamberth Mathis, 58, wife of James Victor "Jimmy" Mathis, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at her home. Born on May 5, 1959, in Montezuma, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Roy Hester Lamberth and Mary Merritt Lamberth. She was a branch manager for The Clarendon Sun newspaper and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of Manning; two sons, Jamie Mathis (Amanda) of Alcolu and Chris Mathis (Hope) of Manning; and three grandchildren, Lila Kate Mathis, Gavin Mathis and Huxley Mathis (due in two weeks). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Dale Lamberth. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Drew Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dennis Craven, Lannes Prothro, Pro Prothro, David Witt, Theo Severt and Matt Casselman. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Amanda Mathis, 5163 U.S. 301, Alcolu.
