| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina of Wedgefield, South Carolina BETTY MCCASKILL LOWDER Posted Thursday, November 2, 2023 6:00 am WEDGEFIELD - Betty McCaskill Lowder, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at her home. Born Oct. 31, 1931, in Orangeburg, she was a daughter of the late Olin McCaskill and Julia Margaret Strock McCaskill. She retired from Creech, Roddey, Watson Insurance Agency and was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Bobbie McGuire of Wedgefield; two grandchildren, Jerry Hardin (Kristy) and B.J. Johnson (Kevin); three great-grandchildren, Kody Hardin, Christopher Johnson and Devin Chaplin; a sister, Ruth Geddings of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Cecil McCaskill (Betty Ann) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, O.D. McCaskill, and a sister, Mary Ross. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Crosswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Nunnery, Trevor Nunnery, Cody Nunnery, Jason McCaskill, Christopher Johnson and Nathan Timmons. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Crosswell Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Crosswell Baptist Church, 604 Mathis St., Sumter, SC 29150.
