Richburg - how are they his step-children? jkh JOE ALVIN GRAHAM Posted Wednesday, May 7, 2025 4:09 pm Joe Alvin Graham, 76, husband of Jean Parnell Graham, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at his home. Born May 30, 1948, in Bennettsville, he was the son of the late Edward Alton Graham and the late Merceline McCabe Richburg. Joe was a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and retired, after 30 years of service, from the Sumter Police Department with the rank of captain. Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Jason Graham (Michelle); a grandson, Wyatt Graham; and numerous cherished cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Troy Graham, and his sister, Claire Clark. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 2545 Old Manning Road, officiated by the Rev. James T. Whited of Bethel Methodist Church of Oswego. Honors will be rendered by the Sumter Police Department Honor Guard. Memorials may be sent to Bethel Methodist Church of Oswego, 5575 Lodebar Road, Sumter, SC 29153. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
