Born in Storden, Minn., he was a son of the late Engle Thynes and the late Mable Palzine Thynes. Mr. Thynes was a member of Sumter First Assembly of God and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Campbell Soup Co. after 31 years of service and served as plant manager at Manchester Farms for 10 years. Survivors include five children, Gary Ellgene Thynes (Maria) of Saluda, Jennifer Thynes Casselman of Manning, Christopher E. Thynes (Paula) of Wedgefield, Amy Gibson (Mark) of Sumter and Jason Hunt Thynes (Judi) of Manning; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lavea Thynes of Storden. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. Morris Smith and the Rev. Al Sims officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the Raven Rock Presbyterian Church cemetery in Lillington, N.C. [1] | |
