Born Sept. 20, 1934, in Manning, he was a son of the late Clarence Murray Caraway and Mae DuBose Caraway Poole. He was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Sheila Caraway of Pinewood; three grandchildren, Eric L. Millan of Columbia, Brittany Dix (Chad) of Marion and Jennifer Prescott (Michael) of Sumter; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Samuel Poole (Jackie) of Sumter; and a sister, Carolyn P. Atkinson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jefferson Daniel Caraway Sr. and Gary Clarence Caraway; and a grandson, J. Daniel Caraway Jr. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Bennie Barwick officiating. Burial will follow at Home Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Millan, Chad Dix, M.C. DuBose, John Murray DuBose, Ron DuBose and Bryan Atkinson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 9625 S.C. 261 South, Pinewood.
