Herring, died on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born on Feb. 29, 1940, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Charles T. and Victoria Revill Boyce. She was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple and retired from the Sumter County Treasurer's Office after 25 years of service. Survivors include her husband of 66 years; two children, Donna L. Dunaway (Bobby) of White House, Tennessee, and Kimberly A. McDuffie (Robert B. Jr.) of Sumter; grandchildren, Christopher Dunaway (Kristin), Kelley Jones (Joshua), Joseph E. Kinlaw, Portia A. MacDonald (Andrew) and Jamison B. Schwartz; great-grandchildren, Logan M. Dunaway, Willow L. Jones, Ethan C. Dunaway, Aiden C. Dunaway, Braden A. Jones and Esmeralda J. MacDonald; and two sisters, Charlene Ogle (Glen) of Sumter and Elaine Strickland (James) of Cayce. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Charlette Herring; and a sister, Tami J. Harvey. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Westmoreland officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
