Weathersbee Sr. Harry Benjamin Weathersbee Sr., 85, husband of Marilyn Hutson Weathersbee, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Agapé Hospice in Columbia. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Colin and Esther Bartlette Weathersbee. Mr. Weathersbee was a member of First Southern Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and was a veteran of World War II. He was a co-owner and operator of Custom Metalizing Machine Co., until his retirement. Mr. Weathersbee enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop 341 for several years, and was a member of American Legion Post 15. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; one son, Harry B. "Buz" Weathersbee Jr. (Mary Beth) of Sumter; three grandchildren, Harry B. "Tripp" Weathersbee III of Charleston, Katy Weathersbee of Charlotte and Kyle Weathersbee of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Colin Weathersbee and Harold "Dick" Weathersbee, his twin; and three sisters, Margaret Garrett, Myrtle Weathersbee and Vernice Mason. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Ellison Evans officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 21 Adams Ave. Memorials may be made to First Southern Methodist Church, 321 Miller Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
