| HIST | After her husband died, pre-1792, Seany moved to Sumter District with her family. (Seany and Eusebius probably lived in Camden District on the land granted to him in 1786 on Nasty Branch and the Black River). Seany is listed in the 1800 Sumter District Census. Her son Nicholas Stone is listed on the next page (936). In 1800, Seany still had her family at home with her. Seany Stone is listed in the 1810 SC Sumter District Census as "Laney" Stone, however, if you look at the original census record, the "L" is really an "S" and has been transcribed incorrectly. Saney, Seeny, Seeney and Seany are all different spellings found in various Sumter District records. The name was probably spelled by how it sounded to the enumerator or transcriber. In fact, Seany was probably a nickname and not her real name. Seany must have died between 1810 and 1820. *** The following sell of 140 acres of land to Seeney and James Stone (her son) from Isaac Jackson was recorded in Book No. 3 Page 273 on the 13th February 1794.
