Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 23rd at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with Father Frank Larisey officiating. Mrs. Williams was born September 8, 1908, in Orangeburg, the daughter of the late James Moncrief and Mary Elizabeth “Bessie” Bates Brailsford. She graduated from Columbia College in 1930 with a B.A. in education. She started her teaching career in North, South Carolina, where she met her future husband, Joseph Evander Knotts. They were married while she was teaching in Cheraw in 1935. Capt. Knotts was killed in action in WW II during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Camilla married Willie Williams of Hartsville in 1983. Sadly, he passed away in 1986. She was co-owner and owner of The Children’s Centre Dress Shop for close to 30 years. She was member and past president of PEO, member and past officer of the Business Professional Women’s Club, a member of the Moultrie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Colonial Dames, a member of the Priesthood of the Church of the Redeemer, and was very active in the Orangeburg Chapter of the Republican Party. Her hobbies included egg decorating and spending time with her loved ones at her beloved house on Edisto Beach. She is survived by her daughter, Camilla Knotts Underwood, and her husband, Charlie, of Orangeburg, stepdaughter, Katherine (Tattin) Williams Harvin, and her husband, Dick, of Houston, Texas, granddaughter, Charlotte Underwood Cobb, and her husband, Stephen, of Sydney, Australia, stepgranddaughters, Katherine Harvin Fuller, and her husband, Jeff, of Houston, Texas, and Jennifer Harvin Vajdos, and her husband, Marcus, of Houston, Texas, 6 great-grandchildren and 6 nieces and 6 nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. She’s also survived by a sister, Sallie Brailsford Kiser of Burlington, North Carolina. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Sprott of Manning, and brothers, Justice James Moncrief Braislford, Jr. and John Francis Brailsford, both of Orangeburg. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, 22nd January at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Cam and Charlie Underwood.
