| HIST | VALARIE SHIRAH BASS Posted Tuesday, July 28, 2020 6:00 am Valarie Shirah Bass, 79, widow of Robert E. Bass Jr., died on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Bernice M. Shirah. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from Bass Convenience Store and Quality Vending. She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Bass III and James Terry Bass (Heather); a sister, Leona McCoy; and three grandchildren, Jamie, Alex and Mason Bass, all of Sumter. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Mayesville Black River Cemetery with Dr. David Richardson presiding. Online condolences may be sent to www.sumterfunerals.com.
