Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harvey Lauren Boykin and Rosene Stafford Boykin. Mr. Boykin was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Claremont Masonic Lodge No. 64. He was retired from Sumter Transport Co. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; a son, Hugh Boykin and wife, Debra, of Hampstead, N.C.; a daughter, Linda B. Faulk of Sumter; two sisters, Sybil Smith of Brookhaven, Miss., and Annie Pate of Bishopville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Sumter Cemetery with Dr. James Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 920 Faris Road, Greenville.
