| HIST | News - Obituaries Monday, May. 04, 2009 William J. “Bill Jim” Turbeville OLANTA — William James “Bill Jim” Turbeville, age 84, of Honorage Nursing Center in Florence, died Friday, May 1, 2009 after a period of declining health. Born on September 22, 1924 he was the son of the late Thomas and Belle Buddin Turbeville. Until entering Honorage in 2004, he was a lifelong resident of Olanta, SC, and a member of Nazareth United Methodist Church. Mr. Turbeville, affectionately known as “Bill Jim” never met a stranger and could, and would, have a conversation with anyone he met. In February 1999, he was the recipient of the WBTW “Giving Your Best Award.” Throughout his life, he faithfully served the Lord, his church, his family and his community and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his nieces, Deborah Turbeville of Olanta, Jane (Tommy) Benton of Manning, Alice Whitehead of Aiken and Enid (Don) Conner of Lexington. He is also survived by great and great-great-nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Turbeville Baker and brothers, Edgar and Julian Turbeville. The family would like to thank the staff at Honorage Nursing Center for their loving care of their uncle. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. - 8p.m. on Monday, May 4, at Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Funeral services will be held at Nazareth United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 with burial in The Thomas Cemetery.
