| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina I have no idea where to put her children and grandchilden. jkh SUSAN BROWN JONES Posted Tuesday, October 12, 2021 6:00 am Susan Brown Jones, 65, widow of Michael Christopher "Chris" Jones Sr., passed away on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on June 6, 1956, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Carl Marion Brown and Frances Jackson Brown. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse in the Tuomey ER for 20 years and retired as a nurse from Pilgrim's Pride after 11 years of service. Survivors include two children, Michael Jones and Kristina McCombs (Michael), both of Sumter; five grandchildren, Hunter Powers, Colton Rivers, Jackson Ryles, Christian Jones and Emma Griffin; three great-grandchildren, Karter Powers, Karson Powers and Karmen Powers; siblings, Carlene Truesdale of Manning, Donna Brown Holland (Wayne Burrows) of Sumter, Kenny Brown (Carol) of Sumter, Chris Brown (Cheryl) of Manning and Phil Brown of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Victor Truesdale; a niece, Linda Kinsey; and a special friend, Lynn Bartlette. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Darryl Davids and Chaplain Bill Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
