| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Procter A. Cromer Sr. Procter A. “Proc” Cromer Sr., 92, husband of Lois Tomlinson Cromer, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at his home. Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Paul and Mamie King Cromer. Mr. Cromer was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and was a Mason. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from the U.S. Air Force, having served his country for a total of 27 years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Procter A. “Berry” Cromer Jr. (Elaine) of Manassas, Va., Charles S. Cromer of Florence and Michael E. Cromer (Sylvia) of Woodruff; six grandchildren, Keri Gainey, Teresa Sims, Michael Cromer Jr., Joshua Cromer, Sarah Cromer and Meagan Cromer; and a great-grandchild, Peyton Sims. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Cromer; and three sisters, Vivian Price, Katherine Jones and Doris Strickland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
